PRESS RELEASE
LATEST ADDITIONS ARRIVE WITH A BOOM!
Mignola and Niles among big Boom! names to go international
JULY 8, 2005 – WORLD-WIDE – Just as they made an impact in the industry by publishing high-quality comics with such big names as Mark Waid and Keith Giffen, BOOM! STUDIOS are poised to make an even bigger impact on the international market. Debuting today on the Enterprise roster with MIKE MIGNOLA’S JENNY FINN and STEVEN NILES’ GIANT MONSTER, Boom! Studios are ready to start turning heads overseas.
“Mike Mignola and Steve Niles are two of the biggest names writing comics today, and we are proud to represent their Boom! titles,” comments Tim Hegarty, International Rights Manager. “Their names alone give these books more attention, and with the professional work of Boom! Studios behind them, the finished product is more than worth it.”
A 134-page trade paperback, JENNY FINN: DOOM MESSIAH is written by HELLBOY-creator MIKE MIGNOLA with the macabre illustrations of THE MATRIX TPB artist Troy Nixey. This dark tale of Victorian madness is set in the combined worlds of Louis Caroll, H.P. Lovecraft, and Captain Ahab, where a mysterious girl named Jenny Finn has appeared in town…and only death and destruction seem to follow in her wake in this unforgettable venture into the world of horror.
STEVE NILES writes the GIANT MONSTER mini-series, with art by Nat Jones. This larger-than-life story comes in two 44-page issues, and follows shuttle pilot Don Maggert on his way back from a mission in space. Before he reaches Earth, he is attacked by a giant space parasite that causes him to crash into the ocean – where his new life begins as a Giant Monster big enough to strike fear into Godzilla himself.
“This whole giant monster thing is a genre unto itself,” commented Steve Niles in an interview with CBR news this past May. “That's what we're taking on with 'Giant Monster'…movies like 'Attack of the Colossal Man' to 'War of the Gargantuas,' and even the modern 'Godzilla.'…and it's real fun so far.”
Giant monsters and gothic horror are two key ingredients to entertaining comics in any language, and with these A-list creators cooking up the stories, the potential sales for these books in foreign markets could reach as high as their domestic success.
JENNY FINN: DOOM MESSIAH and GIANT MONSTER #1-2 are both available through International Enterprise in territories all over the world. For more information on Boom! Studios and their titles, please visit:
